BENCHMARKS, PART III
(NEW SERIES BEGINNING SUNDAY!)
In 2 Peter 1, the Apostle Peter gives us one of the clearest pictures of what it looks like to mature as a follower of Jesus. He gives us a list of things that ought to be coming out of a Jesus follower if they're growing.
In January and April of this year, we started looking at this list through a series called "Benchmarks", covering basic faith, moral excellence, and growing in knowledge.
This Sunday, August 30th, we begin the fourth benchmark: self-control.

If you've never been part of a House Church, it needs to become part of your routine. Why?
House church is where you can be directly loved by others, led to what it means to follow Jesus more closely,
and held accountable to the life that Jesus promises us. It's also the place people grew most in the New Testament.
What's more, House Churches are not small groups. They're CHURCHES, with an identified, equipped, and
empowered pastor who is there to lead, help, counsel, and guide.

Here is the truth most of us learn the hard way: life works better when we stop fighting Jesus’ way and start trusting it. Look closely at anyone who has genuinely surrendered to Him—not perfectly, but sincerely—and you will not find a smaller life; you will find a richer one. A freer one. A life with depth, strength, peace, purpose, and power. So if Jesus shows us how to live, and life changes when we follow Him, then when Jesus shows us how to pray, we should expect our prayers to change too. They become more than words. They become alignment. They become surrender. They become the doorway to seeing God move.
But as we conclude this series on prayer and arrive at the final words of Jesus’ instruction in Matthew 6:13, we confront a sobering reality: there is one decision that can either unlock everything we have prayed—or quietly undermine it all. At the end of the prayer, Jesus brings us to the place every disciple must eventually face: we must yield our way to His.
WE ALL WANT TO CHANGE, but few know how.
People are changing here at The Gathering, because they're loved, led, and held liable to live like Jesus did.
